Fact or Fiction?

How many times in your life do you come across a product or idea which you can truly say blows your mind? There have not been many times in my life when a product comes along and blows my mind. You know that once-in-a-lifetime product that makes you drop your jaw. Well it happened. I actually saw, no, I actually experienced something that I believe can change the dynamics of the entire game of golf. Whether you play golf once a year or every day, what you are going to read here focuses on the possibilities of an extraordinary experience, and once experienced you may never play golf the same way again. I’ll leave you to draw your own conclusions.

How did it all begin?

Before we move on, let me set the stage. Those of you who know me, know that I have been a publisher for 40 years and entrenched in the golf industry for the last 18 years as both a Publisher and Editor. Over this period I’ve had the good fortune to help advertise and evaluate or test many a golf product, some excellent and some duds. 

Throughout these many years I have been witness to numerous fascinating and sometimes outlandish claims from ball control to par golf guaranteed in seven days. However, I can now say that the trophy for the most extraordinary claims was just recently taken by a large margin with an advertising inquiry I received earlier this year. I cannot recall in my entire business history, including my time with Golf Today, of a product that made the kind of claims that are more appropriately confined to the realms of science fiction magazines. My decision to conduct an investigation resulting in this report was, in part, due to my obligation to protect the integrity of Golf Today, and partly due to my journalistic instincts to be the first to challenge and check out what had the outward appearances of essentially “pretensions to a golf revolution.”

Please note that before I actually was able to physically test and evaluate the merits of this product, several weeks lapsed which allowed me the opportunity to assign one of my reporters to conduct due diligence. This created sufficient time for me to familiarize myself with the directly-related sciences purporting to be the genealogy of this product. So, in order to demystify and clarify for you what is basically a very complex subject matter, I have punctuated the following descriptive narration with our subsequent findings. 

It all started very innocently a number of months ago with what purported to be a routine advertising inquiry for Golf Today. The telephone call I received was from a gentleman who represented a new company called Quantum Power Golf, an unusual if not catchy name. We covered the usual familiar topics of Golf Today, its distribution, demographics, pricing, and the rest. As per standard protocol, when the name of the company is not illustrative of the product being marketed, I innocently asked, “So, what does this Quantum Power do for my golf game?” Boy, little did I know that that simple question would prompt such a cascade of activity.

The representative’s initial response to the nature of their business instantly set this inquiry apart from the general advertising milieu. He advised me that it was very difficult to explain over the phone, and he was sure that the two or three pages in which his company was contemplating advertising would explain it all. After a couple of more abortive interrogative attempts, I was reduced to advising the gentleman that it was the strict policy of Golf Today that advertising space could only be reserved when the purposes of such advertising were fully disclosed. He then stated that if this was my position, he would prefer to explain the product face-to-face, so that I could personally experience its benefits. At this point, there had been not one product claim uttered, yet this gentleman had already distinguished his product as to be rare and unique -- and somewhat of a mystery. A hole-in-one seemed a more likely future for me than getting the direct answer I was seeking, but my time is valuable and I do not give out appointments freely. So I drew a line in the sand and forced out a description right there on the phone. His first short answer was, as he described it, the 5-cent explanation, “Quantum Power re-introduces me to my real self, in this case, my expert golfing quantum imprint, who knows only perfection in the art of the golf swing.”

Well, that was indeed the first time I’d been informed that I had an expert golfing imprint somewhere. I felt like I’d just found out that Phil Mickelson was my nephew. Anyway, as you can predict he who makes such a statement holds the floor. This set the stage for him to proceed over the next hour to unveil a chronicle of information that formed the necessary building blocks to even approach some degree of comprehension on my part regarding the product’s genealogy that was subjects like quantum physics, universal potentials, and other heavy scientific formulas. I now began to relate and empathize with his initial reluctance to providing me with a direct answer, the understanding of which would be in proportion to the degree of knowledge I had in those related subjects.

I must confess that the hour seemed more like ten minutes since the subject matter was indeed riveting. It basically ended up with me realizing that I, very potentially, have a golfing imprint made up of universal quantum energies. Of course if you don’t know what this means then you too have to spend an hour crash course in quantum physics. However, for simplification purposes, I was relatively convinced that this imprint exists but, I still held fast to my first question... “So, what does this Quantum Power do for my golf game?”

He then proceeded to explain that each living thing has its own quantum imprint or as I have phrased it, its own alter ego. I probably have as much knowledge as the next golfer in fields such as quantum mechanics, and that would be limited to recalling, but not understanding, E=MC2. However, he used an example that struck a chord when he stated that my body’s golfing imprint is not unlike the illustration that some readers may have come across of the scientific tests conducted on the energy field surrounding all plants.

He went onto explain that this was the very reason behind the well-known phenomenon of phantom pain -- that is, the insistence by amputees that a lost limb can be felt and can demonstrate pain, long after it has been severed. This he attributed to the existence of the imprint now called the body’s bio-field, which I was soon to learn, is the latest buzzword in scientific circles. As I also later discovered, the understanding of this one aspect would soon assist my golf game. Since I was still a golfing publisher on the hunt for credibility, I submit the following statement that came across in my research. It is by Dr. Poponin who is a quantum physicist and is recognized world wide as a leading expert in quantum biology, including the nonlinear dynamics of DNA and the interactions of weak electromagnetic fields with biological systems, “DNA phantom effect is an example of subtle energy manifestation in which direct human influence is not involved.”

I have since learned that there is a large body of scientists who all confirm that while subtle energy fields or bio-fields are invisible to the human eye, they emanate from each of our physical bodies and contain information about our physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Apparently, each of us emanates our own unique energy field. This field is essentially vibrating electric and magnetic fields and always comprises both the informational basis and the evolutionary component of our being and well-being. I also learned that Vibrational Medicine is being hailed by many as the future medicine of the 21st century.

OK, now I’m a little more than intrigued ...because I have never run into a golf product that now seemed to have the trappings of providing health care and well-being, in addition, to any claims of improved performance. I have always known that if you were in good physical condition that you would most likely play a better game of golf, maybe this is what this Quantum Power company was going after. So I decided to venture even deeper as to what this can really do for my golf game. Oops, I mean our golf games.

His next response was a lot closer to the answer I was seeking but now he began to fan the flames of my growing intrigue. Quantum Power enables you to reconnect with the body’s Quantum Field, more specifically with the personal imprint of your physical body. This personal imprint is already aligned with it surroundings and intentions. It knows already what the body should do, when, how and why -- heavy stuff. So, now some of the lights were turning on in my head. He was inferring that I possessed my very own intangible but very real bio-field, my own quantum imprint, just waiting in the wings to reconnect to my body. Better yet, that his company had the key to make such a connection happen. From the very first moment I had started to listen to him it had been with a cautious skepticism that was now steadily waning in direct proportion to the knowledge I was acquiring on the subject matter. I was now beginning to attach a great deal more credibility to a concept with which I was heretofore totally unfamiliar.

I did at one time get caught up in the moment and I found it both amusing and ironic that the possibility could exist that each of us could have an invisible expert golf caddy alongside us in an electromagnetic subtle energy form. That this energy form represented the optimum well-being of all our physical and mental states, and was by our sides ready, willing, and able to share these energy waves with us, if only we could connect. I chuckled as I imagined how I might have played if I had known that a Bobby Jones-type of energy force may have been my companion on every game of golf.

My sixth sense told me I was onto something here but I needed the time to conduct more research, and asked him to contact me in a couple of weeks with a view to getting together as he had proposed. It was only then during his parting remarks that he dropped some pretty heavy references to sports and business people who were currently using Quantum Power. Before we said our goodbyes, he explained that the Quantum Power was still very much under the radar but had been tested by thousands upon thousands around the world during its initial R&D stages. He did disclose that a former Japanese national speed skating world record holder, Japanese Olympic Coach, had brought a great deal of press attention to the Quantum Power as a result of the exceptional increased performances of many of the Japanese Olympic team skaters. Apparently, not only the fastest man in the world on skates, Hiroyasu Shimizu, but also over 100 other Olympic athletes were now in possession of Quantum Power.

Prelude to the meeting.
Over the last 30 years I have tested and reviewed almost every golf enhancement product on the marketplace from magnets to Q-Link, it became quite clear that if this Quantum Power product was authentic, it probably was, as they claimed, the only product in the world that would realign the physical body with the quantum body balancing out the body’s total bio-field, and that all such other golf aids were merely utilizing the physical plane... only half of the equation.

When a number of the third party tests conducted on Quantum Power arrived on my desk a few days later, it became quite clear to me why the representative had endeavored to shy away from the details of his product’s claims. Firstly, in each test the application of Quantum Power manifested instant physical changes, but that was not quite so remarkable as the apparent degree of such immediate increases in balance, strength, flexibility, endurance, and coordination. I think any golfer would want that. More impressively, it also balanced the left a right hemispheres of the brain. Just that alone would definitely improve my game as I know I am heavily left-brained. Quite frankly, looking at the proportions of such changes, if he had cut to the chase and answered questions directly there was good chance that I would have categorized him as delusional.

I am including here just two of the third party tests, as they signify to me that certain fundamental changes are happening at the cellular level. The highly unexpected and unusual results of these tests are probably a strong indicator to us that something very peculiar, (such as we really are experiencing an aligned bio-field for the very first time) is occurring and would certainly give a lot of credence to what seemed like huge and normally impossible gains in our physical factors. 

Blood cell activity.
The company conducted lab tests using blood samples that showed a stacking of red blood cells called a Rouleux Formation. Rouleux Formation, among other things, reduces the ability of the blood cell to carry oxygen. This is a phenomenon not well understood which may indicate some aberrant red blood cell anomaly, but it is however, very common.

A drop of blood from a person was placed on microscope slide and was housed in an incubation chamber surrounding the microscope. A varying degree of red cell stacking was observed. The Quantum Power energy was then introduced.

During the observation period of several minutes, dramatic and immediate dispersion or breaking apart of the blood cells was recorded, indicating a physical effect on the experimental blood samples. Just think, if your blood flowed easier without this stacking then it makes sense that more oxygen would reach the muscles and brain allowing for their claims to take root; increased strength, better endurance, clearer thinking and so on.

Energy field test.
The GDV system has been approved by the Russian Academy of Science for use in the medical industry without limitations because it has proven to have an accuracy rate of 98%. GDV analysis is used in many European countries and research institutions including Stanford Research Institute, the University of Arizona, and Melbourne College of Natural Medicine in Australia.

GDV testing highlights the strength of the (blue) protective field of the body’s energy and shows energy blockages specific to areas of the body (depicted as gaps in the energy field, the larger the gap, the greater the blockage).

The GDV test results received clearly show a great increase in the body’s protective bio-field and reduction of field disruptions. Okay, so now I see that the Quantum Power helps to protect the body from our polluted environment. With my creative and now more educated deductive reasoning I surmised that if the body was more protected then it wouldn’t fatigue as much while playing golf. That helps.

Prior to my scheduled meeting with the Quantum Power representative 10 days later, I had been provided with the names of some significant professional sports professionals who were apparently using Quantum Power to gain that much needed competitive edge.

I passed these names onto my reporter to follow up.

I was more interested on learning how this company Quantum Golf planned on communicating the abilities of their quantum powered products to what may be an extremely cynical marketplace. So, I made a telephone appointment to interview the CEO of Quantum Golf USA whose corporate headquarters are in Newport Beach, Orange County.

He won the Gold Medal at the United States Karate Federation Nationals in Weapons, and was promoted to 9th Degree Black Belt at the Arnolds Martial Arts Banquet in 2005 with the likes of Wesley Snipes signing his diploma in his honor. Okay, this guy was real. Mr. Lee has been purported to say,

“Being an International Forms and Kata champion, flexibility, endurance, coordination, strength, and mental focus are all hypercritical factors to each fight. I normally am closemouthed about revealing the edge that Quantum Power gives me in my world of martial arts, but I understand your readership is golfers. So, let me just say that the improvement in all my physical areas and in particular in flexibility, coordination and strength is more exceptional and extraordinary as I keep myself in peak shape. However, without a shadow of doubt the most significant enhancement for both son and I was in the area of improved balance. Balance is pivotal for kicks and the gain of stability we obtained immediately on adopting Quantum Power was both bizarre and unimaginable until experienced.”

Golf technology and the new wave of thinking.
This martial artist reminded me that the intensity level of the full golf swing is similar to that required of a martial artist like Gary Lee, or even a hockey player or football player. The complete golf swing requires full rotational capacity of 127 joints and the dynamic activation of 400 pairs of muscles -- simultaneously. It’s no wonder that injuries plague the unconditioned golfer. A golf swing to 90% of full capacity is the equivalent of lifting a weight to a 4 repetition maximum.

Reading this martial artist’s enthusiasm about Quantum Power and particularly its effect on balance, flexibility and coordination, I reminded myself that few golf professionals or instructors would argue that having these factors working at peak harmony would be inarguably the three most dominant elements contributing to the execution of the perfect swing.

Golfers regularly spend as much as $4,000 on a set of clubs, hoping for an extra few meters on their drive. But despite all the technological improvements in golf equipment, the average handicap for both males and females has not dropped in the past 16 years. Fifty-five years ago, golfers were winning tournaments such as the U.S. Masters Championships with a score of 279; a score that would win many major tournaments around the world today. So much for all the gizmos and new golf technology. We haven’t really improved all that much.

Since we’ve exhausted golf ball and club technologies, we’re back to the 17th century when golf was first played in Scotland and back to the player himself. Until the science of Human Cloning is much further advanced there’s very little left to the imagination under the category of “technology” that could impact the performance of all golfers.

Today, the general consensus among pros and coaches is that the clubs don’t play the game, the golfer does. The only way to achieve a lower handicap is to improve the function of the golfer -- the person who actually swings the club. In other words, it is the personal four physical factors of each golfer that must be addressed, namely Balance, Flexibility, Strength, and Coordination and all these factors governed by clear calm mental focus.

The arrival of this Quantum Power presented a potential legend in the making, and according to my research it indeed is working as the company claims. I was extremely interested by now in exactly how Quantum Golf USA intended to educate the marketplace on a product that purported to have such remarkable but uncommon benefits, so I arranged a more prolonged telephone interview with the CEO. 

The interview.
My first question, “How does Quantum Power Golf intended to get its message across to a marketplace that for certain will contain a vast pool of scoffers, mockers, and doubting Thomas’.”

The CEO, Mr. Victor Barron, gave a very simple answer, “It works.” I prompted him to expound, “Simply, when cars replaced the horse and buggy, when electric lights blew out the candles around the country, they all worked. Quantum Power affects golfers’ greatest assets, their bodies and their heath. Wearing Quantum Powered Golf Apparel allows a golfer to switch on the lights and connect with his or her personal quantum imprint and function at their highest potential. The longer drives, smoother swings and enhanced concentration are all just side effects of this reconnection to their greater selves.”

That was hard to argue with, but how did he imagine the company overcoming the marketing hurdle of golfers’ natural skepticism towards an unfamiliar technology with potentially fanciful claims. His answer again was concise and as unique as the product itself. He said, “As I mentioned our product works 100% of the time, once someone has experienced the `switching on’ of the light connection to his or her quantum imprint, it’s an open and shut case. So, the marketing strategy that is being adopted is to provide each golfer with the opportunity to `test drive’ the Quantum Powered Golf Glove on a round of golf at no charge and with no obligation. To further ensure that the integrity of this amazing technological breakthrough is handled with class, the Quantum Power Golf Gloves will be available exclusively and only through local pro shops and not in any retail stores.”

I then asked when he thought the Quantum-Powered Gloves will be available in pro shops. He responded, “As a first step, we are now seeking independent businessmen who are to be of the highest caliber, to become licensed distributors to consign and promote the Quantum Power line of products. These professionals will be inducted into the sciences of Quantum Mechanics and the body’s bio-fields as it relates to top physical performance over an intensive weekend as part of their training. They’ll have their own exclusive protected portfolio of golf pro shops where their Quantum-Powered line of products will be placed on consignment.”

Wow. Only pro shops, on consignment, and free trial use of a Quantum Power Glove, this is truly a unique way to get it out. I further asked if he had tested the reaction by pro shops to the Quantum-Power product line. He said, “Yes, we’ve completed pretty thorough marketing test pilots. Several of the most prestigious and discriminating Country Clubs in Southern California have a red carpet waiting for the Quantum Distributors. The best part is our Quantum Power for Life program has been priced to bring the benefits of Quantum Power within a price range that the average golfer will appreciate.”

He mentioned the Quantum Power Golf Glove several times so I asked him to tell me more. “The Quantum Golf Glove is the most powerful golf glove in the world, and once people experience them, it’s very difficult, if not impossible, to find any argument counteracting that claim.” He continued, “The glove is actually quite a stunning piece of work that will hardly travel around the golf course unnoticed. Firstly, it’s the only glove that I’ve ever come across that has three materials seamlessly integrated for both practical and aesthetic objectives. The back of the hand and fingers are made of the best emerald green Cabretta for elegance and comfort. The day I meet my quantum imprint.
I was now eagerly looking forward to “test driving” this quantum-powered glove and connecting with my very own quantum imprint, almost with the same level of anticipation I might have had were I told I was going to meet a long lost relative.

We had arranged to meet for breakfast at a local restaurant in Del Mar close to where I was exhibiting at a local Golf Expo. I met the same enthusiastic representative to whom I’d talked on the phone. There was no mistaking the evangelical passion that possessed this gentleman. He was bearer, or so he believed, of a new cutting-edge technology born form a blend of quantum sciences. I listened patiently with still guarded, but healthy skepticism, as he proceeded to complete the story of his company’s new product and how it would affect the entire golf industry from rookie to professional golfer alike.

He pointed out why he had been reluctant to tell me too much about Quantum Power over the phone. He explained that the benefits of his revolutionary quantum product are so far left-field of Western conditioning, education and experience that the company expected few to subscribe to this apparent fantasy until they had actually experienced its effect on their own physiology. So, now it was time. Time for me to validate or discredit all he was professing by putting on the “magic” glove. The impact that the demonstration of this new reality had on me glazed my memory of the details of the rest of the tests. Prior to wearing the glove, he wanted me to assume in public a rather unusual stance. He asked me to stand on one foot with arms outstretched perilously balancing in front of the rest of the diners rather like the Karate Kid on the rock by the beach.

“What the heck” I said, “let’s have fun.”

When he saw that I was ready, balancing on one leg in as best equilibrium as possible for a man of my age and fitness, he forewarned me that he would gently push down on one of my outstretched wrists and instructed me to resist with all my might and try to maintain this precarious position. Well, if you’ve ever tried holding that position, let alone resisting a downward pressure, you’ll understand why he just used his pinkie to topple me over. I think keeled over is more like it.

He then asked me to don the “magic glove” and resume my Karate Kid stance. This time he applied his pinkie, then his two fingers, and then his whole hand in an ever-increasing amount of pressure downwards that I could verify from his not only his body language but personally sense from the pressure on my wrist. Ladies and gentlemen, I did not budge but remained in a perfect state of balance like the rock of Gibraltar until he was determined to now use both hands and muster all he could to tip me over. He eventually succeeded, but not before making me an absolute convert to the quantum-powered golf glove.

He performed other tests that validated all the other critical physical factors that truly affect each golfer’s game: strength, coordination, endurance and I do remember that in the Flexibility test, I instantly gained an extra 4 inches on a touch-my-toes exercise. For those of you who are physiotherapists you’ll all know such an instantaneous gain in flexibility is impossible and takes a number of days of exercising, or at least a few hours of stretching. I was amazed.

By the end of all these tests and the unquestionable value of the results, Quantum Power had truly worked its magic by revealing to me the power source of my own quantum imprint. It was a great way to begin the day. A whole virgin frontier of unlimited possibilities for new golfers to professional players alike flashed before my mind.
